Each formula is designed from scratch and can be manufactured in the optimal format for your practice. Learn more about our manufacturing process and format options below.

The Process Behind Our Products

Granules are formed by decocting raw herbs and binding the concentrated liquid to excipients (inactive fillers). Our manufacturing process honors traditional Chinese methods of preparing herbal formulas. After sourcing and authenticating raw herbs from our global network of growers, we subject our herbs to a stringent preparation and verification process. Only those that meet the highest standards of quality and safety are accepted for further processing.

In the next phase, the herbs are mixed into a decoction liquid and heated to create a concentrated extract. Our manufacturing facility uses equipment with a patented essential oil restoration and collection system, allowing us to capture the oils and reintroduce them to the herbs in the granulation phase. This is a unique process in our industry that enhances the efficacy of KPC granules.

The extracts in liquid form are concentrated further through low-temperature evaporation. This potent preparation, now in the form of a paste, is combined with an excipient (either non-GMO potato starch or grounded herbs) to create a fine extract granule. The granules can then be packaged as-is or processed further to create capsules or tablets.

Granules: A Reliable and Time-Tested Format

KPC’s granule line contains over 300 formulas and 400 single herbs. These products give practitioners a great deal of versatility and sophistication when prescribing while increasing patient compliance because they do not require the labor-intensive preparation process of raw herbs.

In traditional practices, raw herbs are cooked together to create a soup or tea that is then consumed. With a granule formula, a patient must simply mix a prescribed amount of the powered product into water and drink it. Our granules dissolve easily, avoiding the unpleasant gritty, or sandy texture of comparable products on the market. Granules can be as potent as raw herbs, but they are significantly easier to prepare and store and more convenient for patients to carry around. They are a popular choice for both patients and practitioners.

Capsules: Prioritizing Convenience and Compliance

Capsules offer the same quality and potency as granules in a form that is more approachable for many patients. Granule herbs and raw herbs can both be tasted when taken. Formulas with a stronger and more unappealing flavor can lower patients’ willingness to follow their practitioner’s instructions. Capsules and tablets solve this problem by putting the herbs in a more palatable format.

KPC capsule covers are 100% natural and made entirely of vegetable materials. Approximately 100 KPC products are available in capsule form, including our most popular formulas. The granules within the capsule are held to the same exacting standards as our pure granule products. Each capsule contains 500 mg of granule herbs for easy dosing.

Tablets: Our Most Advanced Manufacturing Technique

Like capsules, tablets have the advantage of a recognizable design. A wider variety of patients are accustomed to taking pills and are more likely to adhere to their practitioner’s instructions when the herbs are in a familiar form. Although the taste of a tablet formula may be stronger than that of a capsule, it is more palatable than raw or granule herbs.

Our tablets are created using an innovative manufacturing process that presses granules into a compact form without using fillers or adding unnecessary ingredients to bind them. We offer 50 popular herbal formulas in 750 mg tablets. The primary differences between tablets and capsules are the physical texture, the dosage and the amount of time required for the herb to take effect. Capsules may require more time because the body must first digest the capsule before it can reach the herb.

Our in-house herbalists can develop a proprietary formula just for you, so you can prescribe your herbal products with complete confidence that your patients are getting the best possible care.

Choosing the Right Herbal Products for Your Business

There are benefits and drawbacks to each herbal product type. No form is necessarily better than another, but you may find that a specific format works best for your practice and your patients. Patients who are used to taking vitamins and supplements in pill form may prefer the familiarity of capsules or tablets. The convenience of these forms can also increase compliance if you find that your patients struggle to follow your dosage instructions. If your patients are already knowledgeable about TCM and enjoy participating in traditional customs, they may appreciate taking their herbs in granule form. We will do everything we can as your OEM partner to help you make the best decisions for your business.
