Why does KPC Herbs place such a huge emphasis on quality?
For five generations, KPC Herbs has operated on the foundational principle of valuing the health and wellbeing of our customers. US regulation of TCM herbs and formulas only began in 1994 with the Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act (DSHEA). Though a positive first step, the act, which defines TCM herbs and formulas as dietary supplements, only goes so far by assuming all supplements safe until proven otherwise. Government consumer protection only occurs after customers have reported problems with products they have purchased or taken.

- ISO 9001 standardizes all stages of a manufacturer’s operations and introduces audit protocols to reduce errors to acceptable levels.
- ISO 17025 standardizes laboratory techniques, calibration and procedures to ISO specifications, making analytical data universally interpretable and acceptable.
- SO 22000 HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) ensures food safety by reducing biological, chemical or physical hazard risks to minimal levels through continuous measurement.

TGA Health Safety Regulation
Australia’s Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (PIC/S) GMP is the world’s most stringent and widely recognized pharmaceutical manufacturing standard. The PIC/S is a leading body in the international development, implementation and maintenance of harmonized GMP standards and quality systems in the field of pharmaceuticals and complementary medicines.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) specifies that therapeutic products supplied in Australia must meet the PIC/S Guide to GMP. Our manufacturing facilities have been granted PIC/S GMP certification by the TGA.
U.S. Food & Drug Aministration
cGMP, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration protocol, provides manufacturers with systems that assure proper design, monitoring and control of manufacturing processes and facilities. The stated goal of cGMP is to “ensure the identity, purity, quality, strength and composition of dietary supplements.” This is accomplished by assessing five factors known as the 5 Ps: products, premises, people, procedures, processes.
To become GMP certified, a herbal supplements manufacturer must be verified by an independent organization. KPC Herbs’ herbal products are manufactured in our FDA cGMP-certified facility in Taiwan.
Taiwan Accreditation Foundation
The Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) offers independent, impartial and transparent conformity assessment services for laboratory operations. It is the sole body in Taiwan authorized to provide third-party accreditation services in compliance with international standards such as those developed under the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Laboratory accreditation is conducted on a voluntary basis. Under the TAF, laboratories seeking accreditation must meet certain eligibility requirements regarding quality, product and personnel management. Our testing laboratory is verified to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.
